Why Should We Support & Vote for Monika on TVI? (Inspired by: True Colors)

Watching this “True Colors” performance and absorbing its lyrics made me realize how blessed I am to have the opportunity of working altogether with Monika Yulianti, one of The Voice Indonesia (TVI) contestants.

I personally knew Monik only for less than 3 months. I remembered watching her for the first time on TVI Blind Audition. She sang Sarah McLachlan’s “Angels”. For any of you who have ever had her/his best friend leaving this world forever, this song might mean a lot.

Listening to someone singing it soulfully with a deep feeling and heart, I was deeply touched. I remembered what she said on her first introduction at TVI: "For me, music is passion. Music is a way to express our heart, to communicate our heart out." Watching that her first performance, without any doubt, I put her as my favorite on TVI.

I then found out her SoundCloud. Her recordings simply showed how special singer she is. Well, she’s beautiful, indeed. But, what appeals me more is how she always sings out her heart. I believe this kind of person won’t sing the song that she’s not comfortable. It might take time for her to learn the song before singing it. But, when it takes place, magical moment will happen. That’s what I firstly thought without having any chance to meet or chat directly with her.

Based on my previous experience filming with someone that’s totally out of my circle, I tried to contact her thru social media. As I guessed, it’s true that this person must have had big heart. As time went by, I got the chance to know her further and work together. For me, it’s always an unbelievable bless to know & learn from someone you admire. Moreover, we both kinda like the same genre. The big difference is I can’t sing, she sings too well.

No sooner had I known her, she published her new cover, which is this Cindy Lauper’s “True Colors”. I knew how vulnerable this song is and the lyrics itself is quite personal. It will only feel that way if it’s brought by amazing singer. Then… Again, she impressed me.

Afterwards, I’ve got the chance to work altogether with her. Thou our big project hasn’t come into plate, we did make several videos. Almost all of them are her live jamming performance with Southern AM. Before, my experience on making video clips / music live performance was zero. However, Monika & Southern AM gave me those chances. Big thanks for that :)

I’m writing this blog NOT because Monik told me to do so. Yet, it’s purely coming from myself. Moreover, within this week, I made several videos about her art pieces as well as her journey on The Voice Indonesia from blind audition up to current stage. It really made me realize how great she is. Thus, I decided to finish those videos and post this blog. Hope you enjoy these videos (please check it: here). They speak the truth. :’) 

Compared to other contestants, Monika might have the least experience on singing competition. As far as I know, The Voice is her first-time experience on big singing competition. However, I know how hardworking and perfectionist she is. Thus, I do believe things will get better from here for her!

All in all, I would like to invite all readers / viewers to pray and support Monika for her further journey on The Voice Indonesia. Today (Sunday, May 12, 2013) will be her 4^th performance on national TV at The Voice Indonesia Top 16.
